Help Lead with Love in Our Community

Are you passionate about supporting, educating, and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community in Sussex County?

We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to serve on the PFLAG Sussex County Board.

Minimum Board Member Duties

✅ Must be a current PFLAG Sussex County member

✅ Regularly attend public & board meetings

✅ Check group emails/texts regularly and respond

✅ Vote on chapter issues, ideas, & events

✅ Help at various events as requested

✅ Learn our Chapter By-laws & resources (on Google Docs)

✅ Understand PFLAG National policies & standards

✅ Be able to explain PFLAG’s purpose & goals

✅ Contribute financially (donations or fundraising)

✅ Be aware the Board may make public statements

✅ Be comfortable with some public speaking

Extra Opportunities (Optional but Awesome!)

🌟 Run for an officer position (President, Treasurer, Secretary)

🌟 Bring new ideas for committees, fundraising, and meeting topics

🌟 Facilitate support groups or moderate meetings

🌟 Lead advocacy programs (e.g., Sparta Flag Ordinance)

🌟 Organize guest speakers for public meetings

🌟 Chair fundraising events (e.g., Craft Fair, Silent Auction)

📅 Elections are every August — 5 seats are open this year for 2025!

At our Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 meeting at 7:00 PM (Sparta United Methodist Church), you’ll share a few short sentences about why you’d like to serve. Can’t attend? We’ll work out other arrangements.
