Know Your Rights: Protecting Our Communities from Bias & Discrimination

  • Sparta United Methodist Church 71 South Sparta Avenue Sparta Township, NJ, 07871 United States (map)

Join us for an important and empowering presentation led by representatives from the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR) and the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ).

This session will provide an overview of how both divisions work to prevent discrimination and bias-based harassment through education, enforcement, and outreach. We’ll explore protections under New Jersey law against bias incidents and bias crimes, and learn how to file a complaint through the NJ BIAS system.

Special attention will be given to protections based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression in areas such as employment, housing, and public accommodations.

Whether you're an LGBTQ+ individual, ally, advocate, or simply want to better understand your rights and how to stand up against discrimination, this session is for you.

Let’s come together to learn, ask questions, and leave more empowered to protect ourselves and our communities.
